Halloween

We are so lucky to live in a neighborhood that is super kid friendly, and every year we have a Halloween parade over by the park. Our friend Courtenay had a bunch of people over before the parade for mimosas (which i could not indulge in!) and brunch that was really fun. Then the whole crew of us walked over to the parade, where the local fire department also sends a fire truck which the kids love. It amazes me every year how many kids we have in our neighborhood, wow! Everyone attends and comes out of the woodwork for the parade.

Maggie was not feeling it so she stayed in her wagon, in her Ariel costume with. At least 3 or 4 Ariel dolls. She's a little obsessed. Riley loved the fire truck and all of the action around her. She is such a social butterfly compared with her sister!

Lots of neighbors

And lots of wagons

We had pizza at the Mulledys after as we'll. really an awesome day in the neighborhood!

By actual Halloween, Maggie had already been wearing the Ariel costume daily for over a week, and forcing Riley into Sebastian as well. It was cold and pouring rain, but we decided to brave the storm anyway and hit just a few surrounding houses for trick-or-treating for the effect. R refused the Sebastian costume and went with a mismatched bumble bee outfit, and luckily M agreed to wear her rain boots in place of the Ariel heels, phew.

Here they are geared up to hit the road

M was very concerned with the umbrella covering her crown. R just ran! She also walked into every house we trick or treated at...luckily we only made a few stops and no one minded!

Maggie's 3rd Birthday

We had a wonderful day at Riverview Orchards to celebrate Maggie's 3rd birthday. When anyone asked her how old she was now, she said, "October!" and tried to hold up 3 fingers (we've been working on that one). She had all of her favorite friends and adults in attendance, and although it was a bit chilly, it was super cute and a great day.

When we went inside, they had the table all set for Minnie Mousepumpkin decorating, pizza, and an apple cider donut cake ready to go. It was so cute! A great choice.

Riley was of course thrilled with the animals, especially the pigs. She was snorting at them for about 15 minutes.

Papa and Gigi came back to the house for pizza and to open gifts. Lets just say it is princess central around here! The smile hasn't left her face all week.

The Ariel Costume

M has really embraced her birthday month this year, an with all of the built up anticipation, the next week should be very exciting for her, I hope! She proudly tells everyone he birthday is "October!" and then once prompted, will remember its actually "October thirtieth!" I think she is super confused about her birthday and Halloween being only a day apart, so she assumes that Halloween is obviously a celebration of her birthday.

She has changed her mind numerous times about what she wants to be. Since she is Disney obsessed (those people really know what they are doing!) it started out as Cinderella, then Sophia the First, then Daisy Duck (she loves purple too), then Ariel. I got as far as buying yellow tights for the Daisy costume when she changed her mind, and waiting until just the other day to pull the trigger on the Ariel costume. Go figure the day I bought it she changed her mind and wanted to be Jasmine, but I think we've dodged that one hopefully!

The best part is that she completely thinks the whole thing through in her head. With Daisy, she said R would be Minnie, Daddy would be Goofy, Gable would be Pluto, Mommy would be Clarabelle, Baby Luke would be Mickey, and Papa would be Donald. She even liked to brainstorm who could be some of the lesser known characters like Pete and Cuckoolacka (sp?), and Chip and Dale, and then crack herself up about it. Her little mind is always thinking, and it is just the cutest when we ask her who will be who and she puts her little pointer finger in her chin and says, Hmmmm....I know!

Now that the Ariel decision is final she also has every character laid out. She gets the most amusement from the fact the R is going to be Sebastian, the crab sidekick. We even borrowed a crab costume from Morgan, and M constantly wants R to put it on. I was a little worried when we revealed R's costume about a week ago, before having M's, that she would be a little jealous, but she was absolutely ecstatic. R didn't know what to think about the costume, but the excitement in her sister's eyes was all she needed she was thrilled too.

Now we just have to figure out how Daddy is going to be Price Eric, I will be Ursula, Papa will be King Triton (hilarious) and Gable will be Flounder. I guess we have some more to do :)

We did the big costume reveal last night - Chris was so excited. He loves Halloween and has really been the one for getting M into the spirit. I think he was just as excited as her. Her face and reaction were totally priceless, and I was a super proud Mama when the first think she said was "thank you so much!" - my girl has great manners when it comes to please and thank you. My favorite is when we ask her if she'd like something, and when she doesn't, she says, "no please!" instead of no thank you. But hey, I'll take it! So cute.

And proudly showing off the new costume

And here she is getting ready the next day for her school party.

I know, the nuk HAS to go!!!

And here she is next to Adam at the party. They performed all of their Halloween songs, and she had a huge smile on her face the entire time. I was so surprised by how she knew all the words - she never sings the songs at home! But it was adorable and the teachers clearly have been doing a great job!
